BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Commerce on Thursday commented on an anti-dumping investigation into brandy originating from the European Union (EU), noting that China is open to resolving economic and trade differences through dialogue and consultation.
At a regular press briefing, ministry spokesperson He Yadong responded to a media query regarding China's expectations for the upcoming economic and trade talks between Vice Premier He Lifeng and representatives from France, particularly concerning brandy imports.
The ministry initiated the investigation on Jan. 5 last year, following a request from China's domestic industry, according to He. Given the complexity of the case, the ministry has decided to further extend the probe until July 5, 2025, He said.
Currently, authorities conducting the investigation are reviewing the price commitment applications submitted by EU exporters and comments submitted by all parties after the preliminary ruling, the spokesperson revealed.
These authorities will make a final decision on schedule and based on the facts of the case, and via an investigation process conducted in accordance with laws and regulations, He added.
Meanwhile, China is open to resolving economic and trade differences through consultation and dialogue, the spokesperson said.
